This sounds like an amazing place. We’re going to Rotorua for Easter this year. What’s the fishing like at the time of the year?

Thoroughly enjoyed your article. We enjoyed a long weekend there recently and plan to go again for Auckland Anniversary weekend. The whole place is exceptional and a great way to unwind with family. It’s also a good place to stay and see Hell’s Gate.

I love Rotorua and have been visiting since I was child in the 60s. As a fishermen, my favourite part is the many lakes and Lake Okataina is amongst the best for trout fishing. It’s quiet and unspoilt – but I hope your article deters people from going so I can have it all to myself!

Thanks for your comments. Pat – I’m reliably told by Nick who owns the Lodge and also arranges for the boat trips that fishing is excellent all year around as DOC introduce more trout twice each year.
